Suzanne Dellal Center

The Suzanne Dellal Centre for Dance and Theatre is the most important dance establishment in Israel, offering a wide selection of events and festivities all year round. Inaugurated by the Dellal family from London, the Suzanne Dellal Center is situated in the beautiful neighborhood of Neve Tzedek and hosts most dance events and festivals in Israel.

Three of the more well-known festivals are Summer Dance, such as a long six week The Sixth Guangdong Modern Dance Festival which includes many of the best local artists alongside guests from all corners of the world, Dance-Europa and finally, Haramat Masach (Hebrew for Curtin Up), in which young independent performers and choreographers are given the stage. Besides that there are many more events will take place there. There are four different halls, all located in one of the most beautifully renovated buildings in Neve Tzedek. There is a delightful entrance square dotted with citrus trees, and a lovely Italian restaurant called Bellini, ((03)5178486). You can enjoy a drink and sandwich here before or after the performance, or instead drop by for a full meal, the food isn’t really exceptional but the atmosphere is wonderful.

Mercedes Sosa in Israel

It was a wonderful evening! 22/10 in Tel Aviv we had been to listen the legendary Argentine singer Mercedes Sosa. She is 73 years old now. And frankly speaking, my first impression was a fear of how she will be staying on the stage for a long time – more then 2 hours? Big woman in red appears on the stage escorting by young men, her musicians. She comes, moving slow and carefully then takes a seat in the cheer. There is well guessing Indian roots in her profile – straight black hair and typical eagle nose.

At the beginning trying to save power she sings not in the full value of her voice but gradually she takes you away into the magic world of passion, sorrow, gladness of her songs. You listen and forget about her age and fatness. You become part of her fairy, flying with her depth and so beautiful voice. You don’t know Spanish but it seems you understand each word you hear.

Thank you Mercedes for happiness you bring to people!

He has got it!

Israeli sportsman Shahar Tzuberi wins his first Olympic medal in Beijing Olimpic Games after ranking third in men’s RS:X windsurfing sail. He won an Olympic bronze medal Wednesday, after finishing his 10th RS:X windsurfing sail at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in third place. Olympic RS:X gold went to New Zealand’s Tom Ashley, with France taking the silver.

The 19-year-old surfer from Eilat was considered one of the Israeli Olympic team’s best hopes for a medal, Israel News reports. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was among the first to congratulate Tzuberi after his triumph. “You have no idea how excited we all are for you,” he told the 19-year-old.

This is Israel’s third Olympic sailing medal. Israeli sailor Gal Fridman won the bronze medal in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and the gold at the 2004 Athens Games.
Tzuberi’s teammate Maayan Davidovitz finished her 10th and last RS:X windsurfing sail in the sixth place, ranking 10th overall.

Eilat Vacation.

It’s windily and rainy. It’s winter. And I want there where the sun shines 350 days in a year into the sweet summer and caressing sea. Actually I don’t have to be looking for such place because I know such paradise place very well; this is Eilat. Eilat is the southernmost city of Israel, unique oasis on the coast of the Red Sea, located near the Sinai Peninsula, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, it is Israel’s gateway to Africa and East Asia and well known as a tourist center, with wonderful beaches and luxuriously hotels. I have checked what is the weather there now, so you see HI: 87°F / 30°C, LO: 64°F / 17°C. Not bad at all. Then who can say now this place is not true paradise?

So I’ve decided to make my dream come alive. Frankly speaking I’ve been in Eilat many times but every year whenever November starts its plaintive song and the sun’s rays are not so warm as before I give up all for several enchanting days in Eilat for staying there to feel the rhythm of the sun, the desert, but mostly the sea. The kallah will be seated on a “throne” to receive her guests, while the chatan is surrounded by guests who sing and toast him.

We have a lot of reason to be optimistic. First of all it’s summer now and I love it. Besides there is a festive mood in the air of Tel Aviv. Definitely this city has it’s own stylelife. Tel Aviv works, rests, keeps Shabbats as each it’s inhabitant, Tel Aviv is glad and sad with them. The city is living as a man.
